Ooof. It is hard to watch my awkward face and hands and those long pauses, but this was a lot of fun in the moment! It was lovely to have so many people join and ask questions and make books! Thank you all for coming and thanks to Beth for hosting. An ever-sure way to get over my jitters is to show up where I get them on repeat — so expect more of these events!
If’d love to share a few of the books made in the workshop here, so please send send your best photograph here if possible, or to margaux@pegandawlbuilt.com.
Also, I couldn’t answer where I got the coloured wax thread — The maker is Crawford Threads and it is all over the internet! The colour range is wonderful. I am looking through the chat and there are a lot of unanswered questions. I’ll go through them for the next post on materials!
Feel free to add more questions here.
I’ve added a few since my list, you will need:Needle, Thread, Glue, Awl (or pokey something), Scissors, Textile, Pencil, and Cardboard
I love this lovely summary from
(Thank you Emma!)”I associated bookbinding with perfect edges and precision. You’ve just opened up the gates of possibility. Not that it can’t be neat and tidy. That it can have personality and character.
Also chances are that each of us already have everything we need to get started. Truly liberating.”
