Hey, have you tried any etching ink? Not sure if you know this (apologies if so) but etching and relief/lino inks are made differently. Relief ink is made to sit on the surface of the print block and not get into the cracks/lines and etching ink is made to seep down into the lines and be wiped off the surface more easily.
Your prints seem to be working just fine but it might be fun to compare?
Ooo sorry I missed this. I’m not yet in a Substack “habit”….
I see a lot of ppl use Akua intaglio inks. Safe and easy clean up with soap and water. Unsure as to whether they are available in small tubes though (if that’s a thing that you need).
Thank you for the tutorial! Ever since you shared the open press project printer, I got one too. Can’t wait to hear more about the future Tetra Pak challenge! 💖
MArgaux, I am so grateful as by watching your tutorial I managed to use my noodle press properly and got a wonderful print! When you said that you learnt to put the plate at the bottom (in the part where you shared the advices you got) what do you mean?
So happy to read this Lucia! I meant putting the tetrapak piece in first (face up) and put the paper on top of it. This really changed the results for me!
I am using a variety of papers including Strathmore Drawing Paper, Arches Hot Press, and more recently thick arches watercolour sheets that I found in the trash a decade ago - I don't know the details of it but I am LOVING this because of the thickness!
Thank you so much! Excited to start printing😊 I was wondering if the thicker paper worked better with prints or if the thinner worked better. Seems like you are leaning towards the thicker. Do you think it takes ink better?
How do i share tiny prints on your challenge on substack?
I am new and love the tiny print life! I would love to share the results in your challange. You have really inspired me M, thank you for your natural living style that shows in your art!!!!!
That silver surface.... just scratch away with a point. Also make sure the carton has that silver looking lining, not just a waxy white carton. Although maybe the waxy white works? Havn't tried!
OMG this is amazing, so going to try it out! Thanks for the video, I feel very inspired now. Winter's been busy and hectic with work and I haven't made any linocuts in ages. Have been trying to find some inspiration and this is it. By the way, are any of the artists you list on Substack? I'm not on Instagram, that's why I'm asking.
oh good! So psyhced you found inspiration in this. don't know if they are on Substack but I appreciate this question. I will search for some and share in today's pot about the tetra pak challenge!
So generous of you! Thanks again 🌞
My pleasure Ann!
Oh my word!!!
Thank you for this inspiration 🌱🌿💚
Ha! Thank you - happy this is inspiring Katharine!
I sent the video to a friend. She never stops for videos…but she did for this one. “I want to see everything in that notebook!” She exclaimed.🌱🌿💚
Thank you!!! This is wonderful. So creative, generous and thoughtful. 🙏🏻✨✨✨
Thanks Kathleen!
Thank you for sharing your printing process. Love your prints! Is your Noodle Press literally made to make noodles you eat?
Yes! It came with different attachments for different shaped pasta!
Soooooo good!

It just makes a deeper impression which is so lovely!

So happy to read this and apologies for my delay! I am not sure how to share with me, maybe dm? Maybe in notes? I am new to Substack - relatively!
So the tetrapak is just cut from cardboard cartons? Does is just need that semi glossy side that's often inside an oat milk carton?
Yes! It needs the silver that is inside oat milk, coconut water, juice, and other cartons.
That silver surface.... just scratch away with a point. Also make sure the carton has that silver looking lining, not just a waxy white carton. Although maybe the waxy white works? Havn't tried!
Wow, I don't even know what this is fully but I have to try it now.
There are a lot of us who didn't until recently!
I am the proud owner of a pasta maker and I and going to have a go at printing this weekend. Thanks for generously sharing your knowledge!
Yay! I trust you will turn up some magic!
